Supporting local schools

We were delighted to host a match between Ilkley Grammar School and Ermysted's Grammar School in May. We received wonderful feedback from the teacher and players, as they thought the course was fantastic and they all had a great afternoon. Although golf was the winner, the result was a win for IGS.

Like a duck to water

Our wonderful front of house manager, Jaine Collington, not only looks after our members and visitors superbly, but she also makes sure the wildlife is given star treatment too. When a mallard was spotted nesting in the rosemary bush on the terrace, Jaine and her team kept it safe and provided 'Diana' with food and water. When the ducklings hatched Jaine made sure they all got across the road safely, so they could make it to the river.

Yorkshire v Rest of the World

72 Ilkley Golf Club members took part in the #Yorkshire v. Rest of the World match on Sunday, on a dry, if slightly chilly day. The sides were defined by their place of birth with Yorkshire led by lady captain, Marie-Louise Milbourn and the RoW led by men’s captain Nick Ryle. A highly competitive encounter ended with the teams locked together at 9-9. The shotgun start meant that everyone was back at the clubhouse together to enjoy plenty of banter, laughter and cottage pie and peas. All round, a terrific day of golf and companionship. Many members on both sides are already looking forward to a re-match.

Great day at York Golf Club

The men enjoyed a friendly fixture when they travelled to York Golf Club. The team emerged with a hard fought half to stay unbeaten for the season. In a tense finale, Messrs Holmes and Carroll stayed strong at the bottom of the draw to secure the half. The team enjoyed a really enjoyable day out and it was a pleasure to play an excellent course in superb condition.
